There are many ways to describe Randy Burk: A countrified rocker, a rock-tinged country artist. A happy alchemy of just the right amounts Elvis and Johnny Cash. Burk is Des Moines' submission to the bluesy, American rocker stereotype: a hip swinging, guitar slinging, twangy musical act with a square jaw and rugged good looks who goes home at the end of the day and builds things with his hands.
He's also the reason why Season Two of this project exists. There had been a number of artists who had asked to be put on the notification list if another round was ever done, but it was Burk specifically who walked up to me at Gas Lamp one evening, put his hand on my shoulder and saw "Hey man. I hope you're doing another one of those things soon, because I'm gonna be on it."
